I have been a business consultant most of my career and was with IBM for the last ten years of that career. After leaving IBM, I received a Masters in Economics from Purdue and I am currently perusing a PhD in Finance at Berkeley. I am married and have two grown children that live on the peninsula. My children grew up in New Jersey and while they were in college my wife and I moved to Vermont. We moved to the Bay Area in July 2016 from Vermont to be closer to our children and granddaughter. My wife takes care of our granddaughter a few days a week while my daughter works. My wife and I are generally active. We spend most of our free time outdoors, hiking in the surrounding parks. My academic strength is in mathematics because it is the tool of finance and economics. My qualifications extend beyond academic expertise. I have proven to myself that I am a good teacher. Although teaching has not been the focus of my career, I have on several occasions as a consultant, developed and delivered information technology courseware. I am good at adjusting my explanations of complex concepts to an appropriate level for a particular audience, and then methodically building up an understanding of the subject matter for my students. If you need help with calculus, probability, statistics, differential equations or related subjects, I can develop a lesson plan and approach that is tailored to your current level and target objective. I am not impatient and I understand that these subjects can be initially challenging.
